My wife Shalini recently started out of the grand voyage of learning to make cabachons, now I can’t get near the cab machine :-). She is doing really well and was quite bold in the fact that she used a variety of material with different results.
Here is a taster:

Her best one was a lovely sodalite which I had already cut and shaped and dopped onto a stick (she doesn’t like dop sticks), anyway she took it through all the stages and got a real nice polish on it.
After all this work and discovering what a nice manicure a cabbing machine can provide she asked me to photograph her work so she could post it on her blog, sadly you won’t see the nice soldalite cabachon because I accidentaly dropped it so I ned to rework it, hope I can fix it!
Anyway you can see her first cabachons and read her thoughts on her blog:

Personally I think she did really well when you consider the range of materials used.
Now I wonder if I will get near the cab machine this weekend ha ha!
Cheers
Dave
